Suggestions and Tips for How Parents can Support their Young Dancer

Parents should assume the role of cheerleader for their dancer. Your student has a ballet teacher/coach. Allow them to do their job with critique.

  • Your child needs your unwavering moral support. Questions and comments such as: Did you have fun? And, I loved watching you!

  • Avoid commentary that will turn the conversation with your dancer negative.

  • Your dancer is having an intense weekend of learning. Please support them by having body warmers on hand, fresh water bottles, healthy fuel/food for meals and snacks, and ensuring solid nights of sleep.

  • Encourage your dancers to appreciate fellow dancers efforts. No two dancers are the same. We respect others unique gifts and their individual level in the process of a ballet education.
